The National University of Singapore (NUS) offers several scholarships for international freshmen. Indonesian students may be considered for four major programmes: the ASEAN Undergraduate Scholarship, Science & Technology Undergraduate Scholarship, NUS International Undergraduate Scholarship, and The Association of Banks in Singapore–Goh Keng Swee Scholarship.

Each scholarship provides tuition support and allowances with different conditions. Eligible applicants are considered through their NUS undergraduate admission application, so students should follow the admission timeline for their respective school qualification.

1. ASEAN Undergraduate Scholarship

The ASEAN Undergraduate Scholarship supports outstanding freshmen from ASEAN member countries other than Singapore. Indonesian citizens meet its nationality requirement.

Applicants should have outstanding high-school results, a good co-curricular record, and strong leadership qualities and potential. They must apply to a full-time undergraduate programme at NUS. Transfer applicants are not eligible.

International students accepting the grant must work for a Singapore-registered company for three years immediately after graduation.

2. Science & Technology Undergraduate Scholarship

This scholarship supports outstanding students from Asian countries or regions other than Singapore. It applies only to selected programmes in computing, engineering, and science.

Eligible programmes include Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, Information Security, engineering majors, Chemistry, Life Sciences, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, and Data Science. Infrastructure and Project Management, Environmental Studies, and Pharmacy are excluded.

How to apply for NUS scholarships

Eligible international students are automatically considered when they submit an undergraduate admission application to NUS. The scholarship application period follows the admission timeline for each school qualification.

Only shortlisted applicants are contacted by email for an interview. NUS states that interviews may take place from January to July, with interviewed candidates generally receiving the outcome by mid-July.

How Indonesian students can prepare

Prepare strong academic records, details of organisational and co-curricular involvement, and clear evidence of leadership. Before accepting an offer, understand the MOE Tuition Grant and the applicable employment bond. Benefits, conditions, and timelines may change, so always verify the latest information on the official NUS website.
